Haven’t lawn darted for at least 20-25 years. Just doesn’t happen until last Thursday. Was about 30’ across and hit the face hard. Out of all the Funco’s out there my front end is extra robust. Custom arms, over sized and FK hiems, 2” hollow spindles, F911 bolts, reinforcement inner rings. Blah blah blah. After the hit I drove about 100 feet and figured I did some damage. Pulled over and right front was pretty messed up. On the left front, the lower balljoint, the ball got pushed out. I was near the disco ball. Aired my bags out accordingly and drove it out with tire still on. Git back to camp to access the damage. This would generally be the end of trip for most but this was my first day.

Next post will be the repairs

So once back at camp we assessed the damage. We tried to bend the rim back into shape. We got real close. But the reinforcement ring was hindering the last part to get it true. We cut that section out and continued to get it really close. We were able to get it back to 95% of perfect. It holds air perfectly and was so happy about the repair I will weld the old piece back in, paint it and run it

I can’t believe the whole chunk that was torn out for the tierod! We took tierod out and straighten the lower tab and bolted it all back together. Then drove to the “sweet Marie’s” location. Found a thick tab with a 1/2” hole and had him weld the tab on. This is ugly butva 100% fix. On the left lower balljoint we had an old one that was pretty worn out but was better than mine that was completely separated. Drove the rest of the 3 day trip as hard as I normally would. This all took about 1.5 hours. Friends are great!

Glad yore ok, and the car was repaired onsite and enjoyed the rest of yore trip.

"Scars" are cool, all sand cars should have some. So different from the "light it on fire, call insurance" crowd we see too much of these days.

Wow, as beefy as that is, had to be a significant hit! Glad you are ok and the car was up and running in no time.
