Greetings everyone, hope all is well. It’s me, formally known as Big Had. First off, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who helped me during a period which was my roughest time in life. I still have Flat Had, and I still think about all the decent folks in this world when I look at it! That accident and the pending lawsuits filed against me and my family was truly horrific. Looking back, I don’t think I handled myself correctly in many ways. Anyhow, enough of all that.
So, many years ago several of you pitched in and helped me fix an old man’s Manx style buggy. He had crashed it, had no money living on social security to fix it, and was too old to do the work. I offered to help him as he was a really nice guy, of excellent moral ethics, and a war veteran of Vietnam.
I asked if anyone on here would be willing to help. Several of you did and that’s why I’m posting this.
We got his buggy together. He spent the last 12 years enjoying it with another fellow who was of his same background. Time has moved on. He is now in his 80’s and his buddy has developed health issues to the point he hasn’t gone out in over 2 years now with it. He himself has walking issues. It was time to throw in the towel according to him.
I received a call while out in the dez over T day from his wife. She said he had wanted me to have it. How sweet is that!
I never expected this so it was quite cool to get such a call. I picked it up today.
It’s street legal and registered. Think I’ll go through it as much as possible..fluid and gas exchange, blah blah. If you see me putting around in mother G or in the desert stop by and have a beer. God knows I owe several of you one for all you put up with from me.
To those of you that helped, supplied money or parts, this post is for you. We did a good thing for another good person. He had asked that I once again thank all of you for giving him the last decade of off roading adventures with his wife and his best friend. He is forever grateful to everyone.IMG_0236.jpegIMG_0233.jpegIMG_0232.jpegIMG_0237.jpegIMG_0230.jpegIMG_0235.jpeg

Part of me wants to get rid of the homemade wood roof box and other stuff and modernize it. Part of me says leave it alone, it’s soo pre-shop bought garage ingenuity. What’s your thoughts? In the big picture, I am never going to sell this. I’ve got 2 sons and 2 grandsons to pass it down to. It ooozes of grandpa for those of you who are in your 50’s and had WW2 rationing grandparents who never threw anything away, but repurposed everything. Even has an OG GPS system..a compass!😂🤷‍♂️👍😜

I remember helping out on this. Brings back some good memories.
Good to hear from you as well.

Cheers.
