Budget didn't allow for a lot of trips this year, and was made worse by ye olde SR20 giving up the ghost after 18 seasons right before the Thanksgiving trip. Made 1 trip, but it was 10 days. Might make another, but it's looking not great.

Yep. It's amazing, but it's also a bit of a hog. 17-30w doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a constant 17-30w of draw and amounts to 5-600wh/day. It's more than half of my total power consumption in a given day.

Running the fridge and water heater off of propane, plus 2 kids and starlink, about 1000wh/day. More riding means less power consumption, but this is about normal.

I have a couple of friends that constantly need jump packs, no issues with their EPS units failing.

That was a front runner, but I’m in CA. At $0.45-0.60/kwh, it’s just too expensive to “fuel”: Volt @ $0.45/kWh and 4m/kWh is $0.113/mile Kia Niro (or similar) @ $5/gallon and 52mpg is $0.0962/mile Also, the Volt isn't the best candidate for OpenPilot because of steering authority limitations...

I'm probably gonna buy a 100k mile used hybrid of some sort. They're all pretty decent and the battery refreshes are cheap/easy, so that doesn't scare me much. You can find them all day long for $8k ish.
