K.I.S.S. - Camping Setups

been loving the overlander setup

90% of my camping stuff stays in the truck organized in the drawers in the bed (fire pit, bbq, propane, tools, cooking stuff, etc). Bedding stays in the tent even when its closed

Charge some batteries, pack a duffle bag, stop at the grocery store, fuel up, and I'm gone. I lost count how many times I've used it over the last 2 years - I was up to 60 nights

Whats it like up there when the wind is kicking up in the 30's or 40's ? Must be a wild ride. On my last trip overnight i could of sworn my 30' 15Klbs trailer was going to flip or end up in Kansas

The suspension on the truck is stiff enough I don't really feel anything. Pointing the truck so the wind hits the hard shell vs the cloth material helps a lot too.

There are straps that pack it up you need to tie down or you hear them flapping around all night

I upgraded the mattress in it so it's blow up with memory foam inside of it so it's super comfortable but also insulated well from the bottom. Slept through winds, rain, snow etc

My only complaint is the shitter situation. Everything else modern tech has fixed. Battery box for power all weekend, battery powered fridge, solar panels etc

I have a soft-sided rooftop tent. It's loud in the wind, but no real movement.

This is my present/old set.up. I get 9.5 mpg going across UT (where the speed limit is 80).

And, the same yard, about a week ago/before.

I slept in the back seat of my crewcab truck two different times the season before last. I works for one night which is all I did but getting up in the morning to go take a dump sucked. Long weekends I will bring the Moho

This is Aspen. 318 and 4.11 gears means that I won't be a speed.demon. But, l.ll get there. We had to pull the cabinets out on one side to get it wide enough for an ATV.

It went from ambulance to a painter. I bought it from his ex, who was handling his estate for their daughter.

BTW, Walmart bedliner, and RustX paint (Almond) and both were brushed on ( All 3 colors). Yep, I might be a redneck.

Don't get to close to the paint.job.

Low buck special. Polaris RS1 fits inside. Good air mattress/Jackery + solar panels/Thetford Porta-Potti, comfortable enough.

I do the same thing, but instead of the porta potty, I do the Home Deopt bucket, black trash bag, cat litter and toilet seat top from a granny chair!
Works perfectly, and then done I just throw the bag of "cat poo" away! Lid goes on the bucket after conducting business and you can't smell anything!

Throw that bag in front of a decocrat campagn sign for the win.

Truck, Small 5th Wheel Travel Trailer?, MC Trailer.

Man, we'd be budget balling with that set up.

19', sleeps 5 and has everything, shit, shower, sleep, cook, etc.

Non-Commercial Class A, 5th'r has brakes and would be under 65'

Many years growing up between back of trucks and motorhomes.
2020-now I did a handful of “weekend warrior” trips in the back of my truck shell. Even made some bunk beds for when I brought friends.

Also did a handful of trips in an enclosed. E trac on the wall makes for bunk beds and also extra storage space for when hauling. Easy to take down and put up.

When I got my first Sandrail, I had a roof top tent that I had on my 4 runner but didn’t like having it in there. So I made a rack for it on my trailer to sit over the rail. This was super easy, and the trailer made for a nice little patio area out of the sand.

After having a toy hauler and a motorhome, not having a bathroom is pretty hard to go back to. But a truck camper and the stacker has been extremely underrated. Easy in and out of parking lots, pretty simple to take care of and we can fit into tight camps pretty well. Nothing beats long drives in a motorhome though…

Gotta say though, the back of the truck and the enclosed trailer days were probably the best memories. Forced to be creative and much more fun for the kiddos. There’s a good amount of carefree attitude that goes along with them that just make for good times. Either way, we always make the most out of our trips. I’ve done a handful of weekend trips sleeping in the stacker too. 🤷‍♂️ don’t need much

Where at in UT? I’m in UT as well, we’re in Little Sahara often.

I've on been to Little Sahara once and that was w/on a tow, just looking around. I want to make it there....but ; (
