    Calling All Weddle HV-24/HV-25 Owners...

My 2nd gear shift has always been a little clunky with even a bit of grind when cold but it's nothing i'm worried about. There's never been any serious metal in the oil other than the usual metallic sludge on the magnet. I have been using the Maxima oil and it did seem to help. I dune while...

Do You Use GPS/Navigation In a Sandcar?

We use the Lowrance to mark points of interest and things like that. Its also useful to get a general sense of where you are. If someone breaks and we needed to go back to camp to fetch a part its way easier to accomplish that with a waypoint. Mine is a Trophy 5M, it was like $495 or something...

    Register RV in AZ

Ain't nothin cheaper in Az anymore. The Montanna LLC thing sounds like a good option, until the state you actually live in finds out. I don't personally know anyone who does this or has been caught with Montana plates, but I hear the fines are making it too risky for a lot of people. IRV2.com...

    Double disc clutch adjustment

And by all means add a stop to the clutch pedal, there is no sense in pushing on the pressure plate fingers any more than is necessary to let the disc slip. And to take it one step further for those who have super heavy clutches, it's never a good idea to keep the clutch pedal down while the...

Small Twin Turbos vs Supercharger - School me Please

Understood. It's just a preference, run what you like it makes no difference to me. FWIW my LS2 engine is N/A with a carbureted intake manifold, a Holley throttle body EFI and great big old school air cleaner, everyone said don't do it like that it'll never work right. In reality it works...

Small Twin Turbos vs Supercharger - School me Please

One of the guys we used to dune with has twins on a 406 in his Tatum, it ran good when all was good but there were more days when it wasn't right and it ruined more than one dune trip for the group. It was professionally built and tuned. Had the engine out with the heads off a few times, retuned...

What do you do for work?

I've been an auto mechanic for 37 years, was with GM most of that time. I've hated almost all 37 years of it, I've worked with some true motherfuckers over the years. We make just enough money to keep coming back. I didn't get into making a lot of money until just a few years ago. Now I'm old...

Race Radios - School Me - Music Quality

We dune too hard to listen to music through the headsets. We rely on the car 2 car communications to keep everyone in the line and shiny side up. Besides that my spouse is the best navigator and always has her eyes on things I don't necessarily see when driving hard so shes on the mic...

ABS Brake Issues - Chevy Truck

So your loose front hubs caused the reluctor wheel to grind away at the sensors? I never would have mentioned checking front hubs, I would have assumed all of the obvious things were looked at first. Glad you found the problem.

Ram or Ford….. looking for pros and cons

I was a GM tech for 3 decades and have always owned GM cars and trucks, there was nothing else we ever even looked at. I worked on so many Duramaxes I just couldn't bring myself to own one too so I said fuck it I'm going to buy something out of my realm, I bought a new F-250 instead and I love...

Gray Area 934 Midboard Bearing Preload Setup

I am so glad we corrected the preload issue on the Tatum hubs I bought, they would have ground themselves to death in short order had we listened to Tatum and just "ran them until they loosen up". That is just a poor excuse from someone who just didn't care. Several years in now with the new...

Care to share what kind of feedback you got from this? I have an HV24 in my car but I must have missed this thread, I love the trans by the way.

    The Transaxle Thread

This may have been addressed many times in the past but I'm old and I want to hear it again. Does it hurt anything in an HV24 to start the engine and run it for a while in nuetral if the car has been sitting unmoved, possibly for months at a time? The mainshaft is still spinning and I wonder if...

Gray Area 934 Midboard Bearing Preload Setup

Sorry if this derails the thread , it was not my intention. Fwiw, I bought a set of brand new Tatum midboards a number of years back, right out of the box you could not rotate the hub there was so much preload. Once clamped in a big vice we had to use a 4' pry bar in the studs to rotate them...
