Stick with what you know. I'm sure a part time pressure washing gig would be pretty lucrative. Maybe add a chemical routine like "soft wash". Areas like this that have high precipitation get organic growth (mold/mildew) on nearly all external surfaces, and most view it as ugly/dirty.

You're mostly correct. This must be an earlier engine. The single wire sensor would be for the dash gauge. Is this connected with the harness you got from Nick? Or, what was left from the bone yard?. The "brown head" sensor you mentioned is not in this pic, it's on the actual tstat cover...

Sounds like the one that got damaged is a A1. All the A3 stuff will swap right over. In some people's opinion, that is the best mix of OE parts.
