Well keep in mind... The auto trans in all of your street vehicles, is based on planetary mechanics. I have 160k mi and 20 plus years of mostly towing at max capacity on my truck trans. I've never seen the inside of a newer 10 speed auto trans, but everything has to be pretty well downsized...
